Twitter recently announced deals with two major players in the online music streaming industry – The Echo Nest and Gracenote. Now, developers will much more easily be able to integrate artists’ tweets into streaming platforms and discovery apps.
“Twitter is arguably the most important and immediate artist-to-fan communication medium in the world. Until now, there was no simple way for developers to integrate musicians’ tweets directly into their applications,” says The Echo Nest’s chief executive Jim Lucchese.
Not only do these deals underscore the importance of discussion in music discovery, but they also reinforce the belief that an artist’s social media presence is exceedingly important and eminently valuable.
