Universal Music Group is suing Escape Media Inc., the parent company of the popular online music streaming website Grooveshark, for alleged copyright infringement and other violations. The 93-page lawsuit alleges that the company’s founder and Chief Executive, as well as other Grooveshark executives, uploaded thousands of songs without paying a dime in royalties to record labels or artists. A spokesman from Grooveshark responded to the lawsuit earlier this week: “We have reviewed the complaint and are confident the legal process will result in a favorable outcome for Grooveshark.“
