Universal Music Sues Grooveshark

Universal Music Group is suing Escape Media Inc., the parent company of the popular online music streaming website Grooveshark, for alleged copyright infringement and other violations. The 93-page lawsuit alleges that the company’s founder and Chief Executive, as well as other Grooveshark executives, uploaded thousands of songs without paying a dime in royalties to record labels or artists. A spokesman from Grooveshark responded to the lawsuit earlier this week: “We have reviewed the complaint and are confident the legal process will result in a favorable outcome for Grooveshark.
